Five years ago, Kunes Auto Group Regional Photographer Shawna Tucker lost her mother to a battle with kidney cancer. Early in her fight, Shawna’s mom was in need of a blood transfusion, opening Shawna’s eyes to just how important blood donations are to help those most in need. After her mom passed in 2017, Shawna wanted to give to others like the donors who gave to her mom in the years prior. As a longtime Kunes employee, Shawna knew that Kunes’ mission aligns with her desire to give back to those who need it most. When she pitched the idea to Kunes’ president Gregg Kunes, he was excited to help and agreed to host blood drives at Kunes dealerships. Since the first Kunes blood drive in 2019, well over 300 units of blood have been collected which is enough to save up to 900 lives!
Shawna says there are already two more blood drives scheduled at Kunes RV locations in the coming months; with the next one being June 22, 2022, and another August 23, 2022, held at Kunes RV of Elkhorn
